Circular Economy: Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle
The circular economy aims to minimize waste and pollution while maximizing resource utilization. Unlike the “take-make-dispose” model, the circular economy promotes a continuous cycle of reducing, reusing, and recycling.
Most of the XLPE foams we supply are intended for returnable/reusable packaging applications in the automotive industry. The molecular structure of XLPE makes it a highly durable and resistant material. XLPE foam inserts in containers, boxes, trays, and dunnage can withstand the demands of logistics, with an average lifespan of 5 to 7 years. This reduces waste and carbon footprint, promoting a circular economy.
To further strengthen our sustainability efforts, we are in the process of creating an XLPE foam recycling center at our facility in Silao, Mexico. Residual foam is shredded and reused in multiple applications, such as sports turf and playground bases. We have successfully recycled XLPE waste from our customers in the United States for years, and we will soon be expanding this capability to Mexico.
Stay tuned for more updates on our sustainability initiatives!
